Autumn already!

Spotted on the Toward road verge - the first ripe brambles of the season. I feel they are about a fortnight early - and they are never the ones that I pic, being right on the roadside.

I can't believe it's time for brambles already - but they make a great sorbet stewed with sugar, gin and lemon juice; you sieve the result if you're not keen on seeds and add to a carton of yogurt and freeze.
