Pain

I was off sick all last week with a mild virus and today I debated phoning the doctor for a sick note as I still don't feel too good. But i felt bad for thinking that and decided I only have two weeks left.

But honestly I was dreading it and so i decided to ask if I could bring my leave forward with the help of my remaining A/L or work the majority of the next two weeks at home.

Well my supervisor did one better. He arranged leave so my final day is now this Thursday but they also cleared it so I can work from home tomorrow and Wednesday. I am so grateful that they are caring.

I fully expected to have to go in each day, but I am so glad I don't need to. Today was incredibly hard and as a result I am in a lot of pain, the type of I move and cry sort of pain.

As part of my ME is have joint hypermobility this is where my ligaments don't do their job properly and the muscles get lazy because well the ligaments are kind of naughty and bend extra which means my muscles don't have to work as hard and so don't support me like they should. Pregnancy floods your body with a hormone to relax your ligaments to help with growing belly and to open things up down there for something that should be impossible to happen (come on have you seen the size of a baby compared to the exit hole!?). Anyway as you can imagine this lovely hormone is not good for someone who is already a little extra flexible (bendy).

When we first started to think about having a family we didn't know about the hypermobility and so researched pregnancy just from an ME point of view. By the time we learnt that my joint issues were due to hypermobility we didn't think we could get pregnant so I had no idea what to expect. To be fair we had no idea what to expect with the ME side of things either, like for a healthy person every pregnancy is different. However most people with ME experience an improvement but a few will have a relapse/get worse, so that's what we were prepared for. Aside from lots of mild viruses I think I've been pretty lucky when it comes to the ME side of things, it's just these darned wonky joints :(
