Glorious
I got a bit twitchy seeing the crisp bright light Nothing for it but a trip to Levenhall.
Finally managed to see and photograph the Surf Scoter! Hooray!
He's the one with the white forehead and the Schnozzle Durante bill.
Melanitta perspicillata a fairly rare visitor from the other side of the Atlantic. The others are Velvet Scoters M. fusca and I also saw a Common M. nigra. (as usual, the epithet Common means you hardly ever actually see them!)
