Maybe today

Uncertain Road

My last Day in UK for now.
I couldn’t ask for a more beautiful autumn day as I walked around Windsor Great Park before heading to Heathrow.

But it is with a heavy heart that I leave UK at a very difficult time.

I am very lucky to be able to travel so frequently ……although some of you may not know the main reason I visit so often is to see my younger sister who has secondary breast cancer.
She was diagnosed 4 ½ years ago (only 6 months after marrying her wonderful husband).
She has fought …..(D hates these expressions such as fight, journey, battle etc. but I am at a loss for words to explain her endurance of this terrible disease) with grace and fortitude over the years.  She has endured over 60 cycles of chemo and now has difficulty breathing, has a stair lift and wheelchair ………….but still has a great sense of humour and is always mindful of everyone.

Secondary Breast cancer only receives minimal funding, although in the UK 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer and of those 30% will receive a diagnose of secondary breast cancer. As it Breast Cancer Awareness Month I thought I would hi-light another part of this disease. Whilst I acknowledge all the people who raise money, and hi-light the need for early detection through mammograms, there still remain these women (and men) who are fighting for more funding whilst often being very ill themselves.
If you have a moment do look at my sister’s blog (it may even make you smile)

And the new charity, which aims to raise money and awareness of this terrible disease.
