Brussels 5km

This is hubby's event as he runs for a charity called 'Missing Children in Europe', with some of his students. It's a big event in Brussels as there is also a marathon and half marathon.
Last year we watched Hubby and this year the kids asked if they could run it themselves. The race starts in Parc Cinquantenaire and winds its way past the Palace, through the Royal Parc, through the Grand Place and finishes on The Bourse, so it's a really lovely route. The deal was that I would run with them and we could walk whenever they wanted, or even cartwheel if they wanted! I ran with a rucksack so when they got hot they gave me their sweatshirts and when they wanted a drink we stopped to get the bottle out of the bag. Olivia needed a few more stops than Dex which led to a bit of frustration on his part, as he hated it when everyone went passed us when we stopped (seems like he's got his mother's competitive running streak!). The course was actually less than 5km which was fine for us but very annoying for people who do the race every year as, for some reason, they make minor changes to the route every year, meaning that it's always a slightly different distance! Therefore it's impossible to compare times.

From here I ran home which was some distance, but I gotta get the miles in!
