Solitary gull

The weather continues to be pretty dismal, but at least it stayed dry today, and I got out for a walk this afternoon to the lake at Samoreau. There was quite a lot of bird life today - the usual magpies, swans, coots, mallards and gulls, as well as four or five cormorants. As I was walking beyond the lake, by the river, a deer came running toward me, but catching sight of me turned and ran the other direction, only to reappear a minute or so later, bounding fast across a field, pursued by a dog. Unfortunately I wasn't quick enough off the mark to get a photograph, so instead I bring you a solitary gull, floating on the water.
