It’s all relative!!
An expression that I frequently used when R was a teenager, resulting in “that expression” and some rolling of eyes!!
This table belonged to B’s grandmother in the early 1900’s and came to us when his Dad died a few years ago. B has cleaned it up and polished it.
I remember sitting at it for dinner when we visited B’s parents and remember it being a family friendly table. It would have catered for families when their size was considerably bigger than these days.
I now use it in my work room for my sewing machine and for cutting out patterns and material. Today I opened it out fully, to use for cutting the batting (wadding for quilting) and found that it looks so small!!! It looks titchy!!!
I ended up on the floor to do the cutting out. Two strips of 108 by 25ins and two strips of 60 by 25ins. Quilters still work in inches when measuring. I need to do the backing material but will probably wait until I’m at one of my sewing group meeting where I can access large tables.
