Redshank
All too easily overlooked as they are so common but this Redshank on the shore stood out and reminded me of what an attractive bird they are. Annoying too as they are often the first bird to fly off, calling loudly and disturbing all the other birds just as one is about to settle down and look at them.
Down to Bornish in the darkest depths of South Uist today looking for three particular birds, all of which unsurprisingly we failed to find. Still good to be out and about and the place was crammed with birders - two excluding ourselves.
A Grimsay tea ensued, even though it is a diet day, and the new improved community hall is looking really impressive. Tea and cakes good
