Day 300 of 366 - Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem!
Today's image was taken this afternoon in the Brewhouse Yard area of Nottingham. The view is of 'Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem'. This building lays claim to being the oldest Inn in England. It has a long history as both a Brewery and as an Inn. This building is built into the sandstone rock that Nottingham Castle (think Robin Hood) is built on. Originally the caves were carved out of the rocks when the Castle was built (about 1068 AD). These included the Ground floor caves which now form some rooms of the Inn. There are also a network of caves under the Inn that stretch from the sandstone rock up into the Castle and then much further into Nottingham. The date of 1189 and name of the Inn or Pub is reported to refer to the time of the Crusades under King Richard I (Richard the Loinheart). Knights world stop off to rest at Nottingham Castle on the way to their 'Trip to Jerusalem' (hence the current name of the pub). The original name of the Inn was called the 'Pilgrim'. The current building dates back to about 1650, although records have only been kept regarding the landlords of the pub from 1751.
The photo was taken using the app Cortex Camera on my iPhone 6.
First I used the app Snapseed to edit the picture. I cropped the image and applied the Tonal Contrast preset. I then boosted the Saturation, Ambiance and Warmth. I also decreased the Highlights. After this I used the app Painteresque to apply the Painteresque 2 preset. Next I used the app DistressedFX to add the Cole overlay and the Sentiment texture. Finally I used PhotoToaster to add the Tone preset and the Stark FX. I then applied the Old Paper texture and the Leather frame.
