Leek pie

My mother, grandmother and I went to an exhibition about expressionism at the Hermitage in Amsterdam. The Hermitage is situated in a beautiful part of the city, and sometimes they have very good exhibitions, like this one.

When we had seen enough, we just sat on a bench by one of Amsterdam's many canals to enjoy the sun, and there we planned our dinner. We ended up with a very decadent menu: smoothies as entree, then this leek pie, and lemon meringue fool for dessert.

In this recipe, you have to make the pie like a tarte tatin. And if you are careful enough while cooking the leek and placing it in the baking tin, you get the very pretty pattern you see in the picture. It's a shame I did not bring my Nikon and had to use my phone instead, because this is one of those dishes that look as good as they taste.
