The Ultimate Gem
Great Yarmouth benefited from our presence today, following a tardy start. Beloved had taken the opportunity for a lie-in and awoke from her slumber only after I'd ventured upstairs to gently sooth her from her rest by banging about in drawers and cupboards with the dry washing I'd put on the day before. I had risen at a quite reasonable hour at the behest of Master H and subsequently settled down with the joys of bank and credit card statements to peruse and wonder at the children's capacity for consuming cash with a never ending stream of clubs, school outings and uniforms which stay big enough for no longer than 5 minutes.
After an unplanned driving tour of Gorleston, we arrived in Gt Yarmouth with plans to visit the Sealife Centre. Master H can be seen in the extra photo, Nemo safely found. En-route, we passed an interesting looking building on the corner of Sultan Place and Marine Parade. Originally the Gem Theatre, later the Windmill Theatre, it opened in 1908 as a Cine Variety Theatre, with the odd proviso that men and women had to sit on opposite sides of the auditorium.
Last day of the hols tomorrow.
