Lost Hobbies No 673
Today's mail caused me to consider how times change. Again. When I was very, very much younger than I try to kid myself I am now, I had a small stamp collection. The occasional gift of a bag of stamps from the corner shop was augmented by every stamp that arrived in the house, and they were painstakingly, if untidily, placed in an album. Even now I have a pile of stamps that I've kept back from recycling, from all over the world - habits die hard, or don't die. But who uses stamps now? Who, I dare to ask, can afford to post things now? It's all email and text and WhatsApp and Twitter... and the postman pushes dull printed post through the letterbox.
