North Pembs tour
Have been on the road all day taking a couple of my photography friends around North Pembs looking for sites they had not previously visited. Although they live in Staffordshire they visit Pembs several times a year and have photographed most of South Pembs, particularly the coast. I offered to find them some of the hidden gems in the north of the county and I hope I succeeded. We started around Fishguard Bay ,which they knew in a general way but the first all new stop was at the Dinas view point.
Even though its a recognised site with a panoramic view from Fishguard to Newport its not well signed and with out local knowledge its not easy to find. They loved the view and then we moved over the mountain to Newport. The tide was low but we got some interesting shots on the Parrog as the sun was breaking through and creating light and shade on the cliffs . Crossed over the bridge that I shot the Heron from on Tuesday and worked up the coast to Ceibwr .
The cliffs here are dramatic with layers of rock folded in the most unbelievable directions and with the sun now breaking through the colours in the rocks could be seen at their best.
We then moved in land to the church in the village of Nevern and its famous bleeding Ewe tree. The church yard has a number of ancient Ewe trees and a large Celtic Cross, set deep in a river valley and surrounded by autumn colour in the surrounding woodland this is an atmospheric site with some unique photo opportunities. My friends were really impressed with the beauty and variety of the landscape on offer in North Pembrokeshire and will be back next spring.
