A Country Lane

I had to go and collect something from a nearby village......it's a journey I make quite frequently so I decided to go the ' long ' way round for a change, and part of it involves a length of single track road. It's only really used by the residents of the two or three houses along it so it's usually very quiet. I meandered slowly along the lane in the car enjoying the sun on the trees when I had to stop for three male pheasants that were just wandering about in the middle of the road .......they were in no hurry to shift themselves even when I edged the car up really close to them, so I grabbed my compact out of my bag and took some shots of them. I gradually edged closer and closer until they were nearly under the wheels and they still just wandered in the road giving me filthy looks ......so I opened the window and quite loudly asked them to move aside......they took to their heels and ran.......in the same direction as the car ( in front of it as I drove) along the road .......just how stupid are these birds?
Anyway, when we came to a bend in the road the birds continued in a straight line into the open fields and finally I could get on my way :-) ............until...........a few bends later.........I was faced with the above sight ( at least 8 female and juvenile pheasants) ........who were also in no hurry to get out of my way, so the whole performance started again.......I ended up taking 40 minutes to do a journey that usually takes 10.........but actually I didn't really mind that much, as it was quite entertaining and at least the weather was nice :-))
