Tamarack's Gold

Tamaracks (larix laricina) flourish in the upper reaches of the mountains and, although they look like firs and are a conifer, they are deciduous and turn gold as they begin to loose their "needles" or bracts. They grow in streaks across a high mountainside and give the green a break in the autumn. This view is from a friend's house and will be the view the Fancy Dancer will have next year.
