South Ronaldsday, Orkney
Stayed in a cottage on an organic farm in South Ronaldsday. In the morning we could see a small Kirk below the farm by the sea, so we went down to explore and found this beautiful standing stone.
Then we went to the Tomb of the Eagles. We had to lay on a skateboard and use a rope attached to the ceiling to pull ourselves through the passage to the tomb. On the way back we walked along the cliffs and got some great shots.
Had time to go into the Italian Chapel. My Husband's Grandfather was stationed in Orkney during the second world war, overseeing the Italian prisoners who built this chapel. It is amazing how they turned this military building into a beautiful chapel and even came back twenty years later to work on it.
It was a clear night at the organic farm where we were staying so managed to get a few night shots of the stars and the moon. I included a few extra photos.
