Sarah
Sue, Sarah, and I went to our friend Jude Siegel's art exhibition today. I got this photo of Sarah with light spilling through the door onto her jacket.
After the art show, we went to see Certain Women, an odd film, haunting and unlike most current films. No violence, no sex, no special effects. It's about disconnection, loneliness, isolation, the failure to find what calls to us in work or in life. It's slow-moving, beautifully filmed in Montana, terribly realistic. It seems to say that many people's lives are not what they hoped, and yet they carry on. Nobody leaves, nobody dies. The truthfulness is the drama.
Mostly we're in a whirl of preparations for our big trip of the year--our first since the trip to the UK last May. We leave Tuesday. Whoo-hooooo.
