Dad's 90th Birthday Party

Fifteen members of our family got together from various parts of the UK to help dad celebrate his 90th birthday.  As you can see from the picture he has just cut the cake.  The photo shows four generations of our family, My dad, his son, his grandson and his great grandson (a second grandchild is currently getting ready for his/her grand entrance in late December).
Dad was involved in a serious road traffic accident just a few years ago, when, as a pedestrian crossing the road with his bicycle, he was knocked into the air by a speeding motorcyclist.  He was airlifted to hospital with numerous broken bones and internal bleeding.  If he hadn't been wearing a cycle crash helmet he wouldn't have survived.  He had emergency surgery and we thought we might lose him but after four months in hospital, he was able to continue his recuperation at home. He has recovered so well that he still cycles regularly and a stiffness in one knee is all that remains of this injuries.
