Drying Salt
We visited the extraordinary landscape in the national park at Timanfaya, where we saw chickens being roasted over a hole in the ground and a gorse like plant bursting into flame over another hole! It was quite thought provoking and slightly worrying to realise that there was an active volcano beneath us! All the lava covering this south eastern part of the island was the result of eruptions over a six year period from 1730 to 1736.
Later we went to the coast and passed an area were salt is produced and looked out onto a wild bit of coastline with enormous waves. A few extra pictures today.
