New Family Member

Freddy is a male zebra finch. I found him last Sunday outside our patio door searching for food and all puffed up from the near-zero Celsius weather. I knew he was lost because he's a tropical or sub-tropical bird (originally from Australia) likely astray from some cage somewhere. It took a few hours to catch him but we did. He'd have died soon of the cold or the neighbourhood cats. He couldn't fly well but enough to elude me for a while. We tried to find out from where he was lost but failed, ultimately. He quickly grew on us so we bought a cage and all the necessities. He seems content hand sings (weirdly). Pookie, our year-old cat is intrigued but learning to leave it be (the cage is up high and away from her reach or leap). Pumpkin, our 15-year old, has a passing interest now and then but otherwise cares not a whit.
