Shotover River

The walkers drove over the Crown Range towards Queenstown today and just across the 'new' bridge over the Shotover River (which carries a major highway) lies a turn to the right to the 'old' bridge. The original bridge was washed away by flooding in 1878 and replaced in 1915. Still the 'old' bridge it is now used by walkers and cyclists. We walked over it and along the track by the river. The scenery was magnificent. This pic was taken from the bridge with a scantily snow clad Coronet Peak in the background.
