Forest Bamboo

Bamboo has many uses in Thailand, and not just to feed the pandas in the Chiang Mai zoo.

Young bamboo is cooked into many Thai dishes. It can be boiled and preserved for months. One of my friend's families had bags and bags of it hanging all across their ceiling. Older bamboo is used for building, cut thin for walls, or left whole for posts or scaffolding.
