2016 Tuesday -- Test Day

In more ways than one, this was test day. My students came to put their answers on the Scantrons, to earn a score, and hopefully a good score. What I realized all over again for the very first time is that some of my students are experiencing life's toughest tests. The words below arrived in my email this morning. I ache for my student.

Her words:
"Hello Carol, I was wondering if I can go in to another of your classes this week. The reason being is last Monday we thought my mom was having a stroke so we took her to the hospital. Turns out it wasn't a stoke but instead it is brain cancer. My dad is at work and we couldn't find anyone to watch her because she can't function normally on her own right now. We are waiting for the biopsy to hopefully figure out the treatment. Hopefully I can come in some other time this week being as I couldn't make it today. Thank you."

So of course I offered her another class time so she wouldn't miss getting to earn points on the quiz.
