Kelvin Takes a Leap
Pyrotechnics at the camera club evening. We adjourned to Jamie's farm where he gave us the use of a big field for wire wool spinning and setting off fireworks.
Pete and Kelvin, his wingman, took control of the fiery bits.
This photo is a bit of a cheat. Kelvin didn't actually leap over a lit firework. WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T TRY JUMPING OVER FIREWORKS!
It's a blend of two photos. The one of Kelvin was taken with flash and camera on bulb mode. The photo of the firework was taken at 1/8 of a second. Any longer, and it would just look like a haze.
We were all pleased to adjourn to the barn out of the direct cold, where Jamie set up an airline to blow wood shavings and glitter. Pete set up a trigger to the flash so that sounds would set it off. We finished with bursting balloons containing blue glitter. Jamie wielded the axe to burst them!
Rather a gloomy day and getting colder, but some good singing in the morning. I went back to Mozart and Puccini to try and cheer myself up. Body is not in fit condition after THE cold, but opera always sets the muscles working again.
As I had expected, Sue won't be coming any more to help with the housework. I had thought it would be too much for her since she got a cleaning job at the pub next door. But Basil and I will still be popping in for chats on Tuesdays.
