Pont des Arts - Livvie Style

During my lunchtime sanity walks I've crossed this wee bridge over the Lochshot Burn many times, totally oblivious to the fact that one side was festooned with padlocks or "Love Locks" as they've become known.

Could this be a homage to the famous Pont des Arts in Paris or maybe where the little people park there little bicycles when they get back from the Elf Centre?
