M42 Salt Street Bridge
The Salt Street Bridge carries an historic track across a rather newer track, the M42. Constructed in 1986 this beautiful concrete arch bridge cast in-situ is a magnificent boudary defining feature as the line this bridge cuts on the map also marks the county line between Leicestershire and Warwickshire. Rather appropriately the plateau to the west is known as ‘No Mans Heath’.
Possibly the last bridge in my series, I have been surprised by the sheer variety of bridges Leicestershire possess. From the brand new motorway viaducts of Catthorpe to the railway ruins crossing disused canals in the north of the county. Many of these structures beautifully mark a moment of transition, most often across the county line and its these structures that interest me the most.
Also see my EXTRA Photos.. Car passed its MOT today with only three advisories... 6 and half years, 90,000 miles it is such a fantastic car!!
