Shadow of Loneliness

I saw this shadow cast on the floor of my parents' living room earlier, while taking my previous photo. It was right by the base of the Christmas tree, where I had placed my gifts, and when I saw it, I knew I would be taking its picture later on tonight. The brilliant pattern of my mother's small brass stand, combined with the soft glow of a nearby electric window candle, made this very elongated and beautiful shadow, yet one that spoke to me with loneliness... The same kind of loneliness I felt all day yesterday, while having nothing to do.
