Machair

Picked up this stunning Highland Stoneware platter today. The title of the design is Machair, a Scottish/Gaelic word for the more fertile but still sandy area, inland from the sand itself. It's often used for grazing and has its own beautiful range of plants and flowers. The harebells shown here are very typical.
It's a word I associate with Iona in particular. The plate is beautiful. I love it.
