Remember, Remember...
Overnight the wind has blown the clouds away, continuing and still blowing a hoolley! It wouldn't be a very good night here for a bonfire!
Al made this Ginger Parkin last week from an original Bero recipe which has been used in our family - well - always. It needs keeping for a week and it is really tasty and moist. I tried to make it look a bit like a Pinwheel! I expect there will be a few of them going off tonight.
It got me thinking back and remembering when we were kids and we had to wait until Dad came home from work before the Bonfire could be lit. Mum would do Pork Pies and Mushy peas and we would try to cook potatoes in the ambers of the fire, scorching our faces trying to poke them about. They always came out black on the outside and raw in the middle. In later years, of course we made them in the oven.
Happy days. We really did have a happy childhood, well fed, clothed and loved.
It's good to remember.
Happy Bonfire Night - be safe.
