Provocatores

Part of a tombstone from the Roman ages.

I had a great day today. I went to Nijmegen, where my brother and I visited an interesting exhibition about Roman gladiators. A bit of their history, about what a day of gladiator fighting looked like, but most interesting to me was the fact there were many kinds of gladiators. Every kind used their own specific outfit and weapon. In this tombstone two provocatores are fighting and a third is watching.

After the visit we had a photo stop a bit higher up, behind the museum, followed by a dinner at a Greek restaurant, followed by a classical concert. This one was way better, or rather, much more to our liking than the one we went to the other day. Music from Sjostakovitsj and Dvorac.
