Day 310 of 366 - The Gunpowder Plot!
The image today was taken early this afternoon near to the town of Alcester in Warwickshire. The view is of the front of the Grade I listed Coughton Court. This Stately Home which is in the care of the National Trust has a long and fascinating history. It is the home of the Throckmorton family. The estate has been in their hands since 1409, however the the main part of this building (the Gatehouse) was rebuilt during the mid 16th century. The house and family were most notably associated with the Gunpowder plot of 1605. A few of the conspirators were related to the Throckmorton's and Coughton Court was rented out by Sir Everard Digby with the intention of preparing a hunting party to act ready for an uprising after the planned Gunpowder plot to blow up the House of Lords on 5th November 1605. As the plot failed a few of the conspirators were shot and killed at Holbeche House in a standoff with the Sheriff of Worcestershire. However most of the conspirators including Digby were captured and sentenced to death.
The photo was taken using the app ProCamera on my iPhone 6.
First I used the app Lightroom mobile to edit the photo. I Cropped the picture and applied the Dynamic colour preset. I then changed the white balance and applied some Clarity. I finally applied some of the Dehaze feature as well as boosting the Saturation. Next I used the app Brushstroke to apply the Gloss G3 painterly preset, I also changed the canvas style to Cold Press. Finally I used PhotoToaster to add the Recover Highlights preset and the Vibrant FX. I then applied the Canvas texture and the Burlap frame.
