Sharing the moment
Our old friends, Lynn and Stephen, made the journey from Mirfield in Yorshire to see us today. Mum wasn't well enough for them to come earlier in the year. They usually bring their three delighful granddaughters in the summer, but today we had L and S all to ourselves. We love the girls, but it was rather good to have uninterrupted adult conversation for once!
Just before they left I produced the camera. This shot is taken before they all posed for me. I like it best because Mum and Lynn are such close friends - ever since Lynn turned up on my parents' doorstep one September looking for her student accommodation. The elderly lady next door had offered a room to a student and no one in authority had come to check out the place. It was not suitable, but fortunately she was out, having forgotten about the arrangement!
Lynn, her parents, Stephen (who was her fiance at the time) and my parents became firm friends. Here we are, about 45 years later. We wish we lived nearer.
