Typical!
This morning I was up in the attic looking for something Christmassy that Marlane was going to do up. I came across Julia's 3/4 size guitar that she started to learn when at primary school so we are talking about 20 years it's been up there.
I decided that I needed to achieve a life long ambition to play a musical instrument, apart from the Triangle and Tambourine! In the guitar case there is a book, aimed at young children, about the parts of the guitar, the numbering of fingers, frets and strings etc. Starts right from scratch with an explanation about Semiquavers, 4/4 bars etc. just what I need as I am totally ignorant. This book is aimed at 8 year olds so I'm only 60 years too late.
I've made some progress today and starting to learn, determined not to move onto the next page until I master the finger placement and bars on the current page.
So along comes Daniel and Lennon at 15:30 and Lennon wants to 'Have a go' at the guitar, bearing in mind he knows even less than me about it so he took over for the next half an hour until they went to get his Mum.
To be honest, it was funny really because he was strumming, tunelessly, and singing, just as tunelessly, but really enjoying himself.
Daniel came around earlier in the day to show me an app on the iPad to tune the guitar, it's amazing. You start with string 1, pluck it and the app tells you if it's too low, too high, or just right, then onto the next string. It's called 'Guitar Tuna' and it's absolutely brilliant. You turn the keys as the note is contuing and you can see the bar moving from low or high to the right place, amazing and very simple.
