Go toward the light...

The weather has turned cold.  Very cold.  There is rejoicing in the Cairngorms as the skiing season gets underway.  There are snow showers forecast for our area tomorrow.  Of course there is.  We don't have any heating so of course the temperatures outside are going to linger at arctic levels.  

That said, between the heaters we already have and the ones David hired, we've not noticed any difference in temperature indoors.  Still cosy even if the heater in the hall sounds like a kettle permanently on the verge of full boil.  I keep thinking David is making a cuppa!  

Up early (for a change :p) and just as well as by 8am the usual 6 vans cluttering the driveway were joined by a further two as the heating engineers arrived and wasted no time in getting in, getting the water turned off (no flushing loos!!) and getting the central heating system drained.

Alan was heading out with Kirsten and David was heading to Perth to run a few errands (golf range) so he dropped me off at Gloagburn to meet up and have lunch with friends Fiona and Janice.  

Had a lovely lunch and catch up but we were shocked to realise that it's a year since we've managed to get together for lunch.  We've had at least 6-8 attempts this year but each time something has happened and we've had to cancel.  We're determined that's not going to happen again so have a date in the diary for 23rd January.  Fingers crossed nothing crops up that scuppers our plans.

David picked me up on his way back down from Perth and I dragged him kicking and screaming we had a quick look in the Christmas pop-up shop.  I was very restrained and only bought a couple of things :-))

We got home and thankfully the water was on again so the loos flush.  Just the cold water on though so washing my face at bedtime is going to be a bracing experience and we're going to be queuing up in the morning to use Alan's power shower.

I think I must have a screw loose as on one level, I am actually enjoying all this mayhem.  It seems like fun!  How crazy is that?!!  

I really need to get a life!  :-))

PS The Community Nurse visited this morning re. Alan's bed.  She was absolutely brilliant!  She is going to do her best to get him the best bed possible.  



Her parting words were "Alan needs a bed that properly meets his needs and if we have to buy one specially suited to him alone, then that's what we will do."  I could have hugged her!
