Same "magic" new presentation.
I can not remember how long it is since I used the local Morrison's "facilities", but I remember them as looking like this.
At the time I said ...
"Clarke's Three Laws are three "laws" of prediction formulated by the British writer and scientist Arthur C. Clarke. They are:
1. When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong.
2. The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible.
3. Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
And - it's at times like this I think of my Grandma.
I was born into a house with gas lighting & cooking on gas and an open fire and the "facilities" were "down the yard" whatever the weather.
I remember being amazed at how fast/easy it was to get an electric light on ... (Remember Catweasel) ... and HOW BRIGHT it was.
At that time, I guess "Mother" would have been in her late 70s early 80s (For those who missed earlier explanation ... Our parents were Mam & Dad, Mother was Grandmother.) and she probably was shy the odd marble or two by then.
I keep wondering how she would react to a door which opened as she approached it, a device which threw money at you out of a hole in the wall, or a tap which ran warm water when you held a hand under it, let alone soap & hot air.
I'm just wondering if it was too magic for some folk, who NEEDED visible taps.
I just HAD to slip the extra in to record 1st visible snow on t'East Fellside.
I neglected to mention the fact I was a bit chuffed to stand in front of mirrors and not see myself.
