Aberdeen

In Aberdeen for day two of the SPSP visit to NHS Grampian. The visit went well and there is a lot of good stuff to share.

Here is the stained glass window in the Sandpiper Sanctuary room at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

The design features a 'fish eye' view of the landscape within the extensive catchment area of the hospital, stretching from the Cairngorms in the West up to the Northern Isles, then East down the spectacular coast to the farmlands of the Mearns in the South.

It is situated in the new sanctuary, a specially designed room adjacent to the busy Emergency Care Centre where people can retreat to spend time in a peaceful and contemplative space. The window contains many local references and 'hidden' creatures for children to find, encouraging viewers to become absorbed in the design.

Hope you have had a good day.
