Mardi Gras Indian costume

The complex intersection between Native Americans, French, and people of African descent gave rise to this processional tradition. We missed the procession, (every Sunday in New Orleans) but we made it to the Backstreet Cultural Museum. http://www.backstreetmuseum.org
We are heading off to an election party with our fingers crossed. We're in New Orleans, so the hostess is making...what else... but gumbo!
