Will my tree survive?

An immense number of fungal mushrooms have just appeared at the base of my Alder tree.  I have heard it's a good year for fungi, but this is ridiculous!  I have no recollection of seeing any there last year.  I just hope it is not a sign of decay in the poor tree - a staple part of my front garden
