Time to say goodbye
I've just been reminded it's my blip-day so maybe it's fitting that something poignant marks my 200.
Last night we decided our wonderful old lab Braemar couldn't be allowed to suffer anymore. His legs haven't been great for a while. After all he is 13 so 91 in human years. But this week is breathing turned bad too. I made the difficult decision to call out the vet. The vet came about 6pm and the children said their horribly heartbreaking goodbyes and my mum took them other house. Then hub and I sat on the patio with Brae (he lives outside and it's always been where he's happiest) and held him while he drifted off for this last time. We then took him to a quiet spot on the farm and buried him with his best friend, our Boxer who we lost in February (you may recall).
Considering how upset I was prior, it was actually lovely, quiet and peaceful. It was a relief in many ways. We know the timing was right because just before the vet arrived he started to bring up lots of blood.
He was a fantastic loyal HUGE Labrador who will forever remain in the hearts of all who loved him.
Night night sweet man, love you big bits xxx
This was a picture I took of him yesterday morning. but here are some past Blips about the lovely old boy which I think show off his wonderful old character. You'll also notice how quickly he's deteriorated.
Looking incredibly hansome at Christmas - like an ageing movie star - bit of a silver fox!
