Bird Dock

I know it's only a few days since I last posted a goldfinch but I was so pleased to see my charm feeding on burdock this morning. I immediately thought of GracieG who told us how these birds flock to tables in wet weather because they don't like eating wet burdock seeds. The birds are taking a bit of a chance gorging on burdock because it has been known for small birds to get trapped by the burrs. 

My bird the other day was at the top of an ash tree, I got a bit closer today and can see what is making the birds look a bit bedraggled - they have new feathers sprouting around their beaks.
