Young mullien for 2017 & Bombing Persey

This self seeded mullien plant will be ready to send up a 5 or 6 foot tall flower stalk next year. The furry leaves will withstand the winter snows. It is growing right in front of the house.
And the Extra photo is of my best 'photo bomber', Persey the Twink. As I aimed the camera toward a very small mullien plant growing in the deck trough, Persey rushed toward me among the shadowy stripes along the deck rails.
It continues cold (above freezing in the daytime) and sunny ever day for now.
