Boz is of course 'Charles Dickens'
Sketches by 'Boz,' Illustrative of Every-day Life and Every-day People (commonly known as Sketches by Boz) is a collection of short pieces Charles Dickens originally published in various newspapers and other periodicals between 1833 and 1836.
The watch I bought in an online auction (The sale room) yesterday and it dates to 1834. I have been so busy buying I almost neglected my blip. The subject matter was of course to hand. You will perhaps find further photographs of other watches I bought at the same auction over the next few days. And yes, the glass is cracked!
