Plumbing

We are awaiting the plasterer, who is due to come back and finish off (between 1 and 4, they said - it's now 4.30).  At this rate, we might have to resort to another takeaway tonight.  Mind you - though our workers have been a bit chaotic regarding their timings, at least they are doing a good job.  And they have left the house tidy every evening.

Meanwhile, the kitchen sink has been draining very slowly, so W decided enough was enough.  He'd previously done the obvious - removing the U-bend and trying to rod the pipe from the sink end - with no success.  So today, even though it has been the most horrible weather - rain and cold - he tackled it from outside, which involved cutting a piece out of the pipe beyond where it emerges from the wall.  Then rods, hosepipes and general bloody mindedness has finally sorted it.  Followed by a trip to Screwfix to get pieces to repair the pipes.
