I'm back home after three nights near Newcastle. Our bags are unpacked, the house has warmed up and we've eaten though not much after the enormous breakfast.

We decided to stop at Allen Banks for a walk through the woodland on the journey home. I knew there had been a lot of footpath damage caused by last winter's storms but hadn't realised there was still such a large area out of bounds to the public. The alternative route proved too muddy for our footwear so photos were few. Fortunately this wonderful beech tree was beside the car park.
