Muddy Boots.

This morning I (Cyclops) explained to CyclopJnr that we were going for a secret adventure.  The last things I have described as adventures include going to  "Botanics Lights", a fireworks display, and a new soft play, so I though I was setting expectations appropriately.

He looked as me thoughtfully.  "Dragons" he said very definitely.  "Dragons, sky, I go, fly".  "Adventure".

By this time I am worrying that his expectations have got too high...

We set off in the car and he had a lovely nap.  When we arrived at our destination there were some goats in a field next to the car park.  "Goats" he said, "lick gloves, adventure".  Great, his expectations have been nicely lowered.

I still fear letting him down, as he seems to have lost all the gloves he owns so is entirely gloveless today.  His poking at the goats seems much more likely to cost him a digit or two.

Shortly afterwards his GrandP's arrived.  He was delighted to see them (great, this was the surprise for him), and there was no further talk of dragons.  He did go back to poke the goats again, with the GrandP's in tow, but retained all his fingers.

We greatly enjoyed the play areas at Muddy Boots (our secret destination).  He had a go on a hydraulic JCB arm, a miniature electric tractor, and lots of pedal things and climbing things.

There was a cast iron bump in the middle of the pedal thingy enclosure, clearly designed to encourage you to ride around the outside.  CyclopsJnr's inner anarchist couldn't resist that, so he insisted on pushing himself up it, then going "whee" down again with a huge grin (pictured).

We had a lovely lunch, then had a go on the indoor play area which had a quite long, quite fast slide.  He LOVED it.

He had another nap in the car on the way back to Edinburgh, then we went to give the toddler football class another go.  He really enjoyed the first bit, which involved he and I taking turns chase each other around and try to catch a tail (tucked into our waistband).  He has a similar game at Rugby Tots, and when he returned his tail to Coach Brian he said, "Rugby, rugby, like it".  This attracted a dirty look from the coach.

After that the games got too confusing very quickly, so CyclopsJnr voted with his feet, got his coat, and left (second week running).  He wasn't upset, he just kept saying "No daddy, home now".

We went home, had dinner, and played with his train set for a bit.  Great fun.

CyclopsJnr was on cracking form today - he's been a really good boy and we had a lovely time.  Thanks to the GrandP's for their contribution to a lovely day too!
