Earthquakes and a Tsunami.

This is a very tired me.

What a night most of New Zealand had last night.

Earthquake at 12.02am. A loooong rolling one that felt like the house was moving around on wheels. Dave is away so it was just Ella and I home. We were just trying to settle down from that when the Tsunami siren started.

We have only ever heard the siren at testing time, but this was for real. As we are in the zone for possible flooding we got in the car with the dogs and headed for higher ground, as did lots of others. Was strange to see the road so busy at that time of the night/ morning.
We went to my mother in laws. Didn't sleep at all, siren went until 8 am, came home and eventually started to relax. Tsunami threat over.

Dave is stuck 4 hours away as roads are damaged and not open!

Christchurch has been let off serious damage this time, but further north it is not good news.

Thinking of those people who are without power and water etc, know exactly what they'll be experiencing.
