Shaky shaky Isles

The very thing that creates the beautiful landscape of NZ sends us into a spin from time to time and last night it all kicked off again.  What now appears to have been two quakes joined together gave us 2 mins of frightening, rolling and shaking that was felt over much of the country. Then a night and day of regular shaking, some quite significant.  Mum and her friend Denise came to us when the tsunami sirens went off. Not much sleep was had.

 


--7.5 quake hit near Culverden in North Canterbury, 15km deep, just after midnight
-- 2 people confirmed dead, one in a collapsed house, one due to heart attack
-- tsunami warnings were issued and it appears some high wave activity did hit the coast
