Woodbury Common - not the moonrise

I visited Woodbury Common with a friend late this afternoon.  The plan was to have a short walk sussing out the likely direction for where the moon would rise then watching the sun set followed by moonrise.  We knew the forecast was for light cloud but hoped for a break in the cloud.  As it was the cloud turned into light rain and any hopes for a sunset or sighting of the moon rapidly disappeared.
