No Mean City

One of the books we discussed at the Glasgow Book Club this evening along with the recent Booker Prize shortlisted His Bloody Project.

Two bleak novels on a bleak evening - but generated some excellent warm chat.

Next month we move into lighter territory with Alexi Sayle's Thatcher Stole My Trousers and Cod by Mark Kurlansky. As I nominated both books I get the responsibility of having to give a short intro at the next meeting - so some homework for me over the next few weeks.
