Worst nightmare.......

As feared back in March 2011 it has now happened. Was digging out the foundations for a greenhouse. Chickens swarmed over the site & the over supply of worms in spring fever. In the picture our cock "Sepp" with one of his girls.
Up to now they always managed to avoid tyres & shovel even at the very last second but then it happened. I let down the bucket and then saw I had squashed one. I sprinted the 10ft to get an axe but on returning the poor girl was dead. At least it was quick.
